Cryptzone Granted Patent Related to AppGate’s Method for Protecting Network Devices

Patented Technology Allows AppGate to Create a “Segment of One” for Superior Access Control

Waltham, MA – November 3, 2015 – Cryptzone, a provider of dynamic, context-aware network, application and content security solutions, today announced that the US Patent and Trademark Office has issued Cryptzone U.S. Patent 9,148,408 B1 for its “systems and methods for protecting network devices.” The company also has several other patents currently under review.

The new patent demonstrates Cryptzone’s unique ability to determine, identify and secure user access to a network and the applications and services behind it. Patent 9,138,408 B1 is related to the core mechanism used in Cryptzone’s AppGate technology and describes the way Cryptzone uses a central policy server (controller) to create user-specific tokens that define network resource entitlement, enforced across a set of distributed gateways.

AppGate enables organizations to adopt a software defined perimeter approach for granular security control. AppGate makes all unauthorized servers effectively “invisible.” It then delivers access to authorized resources only, verifying a number of user variables each session—including device posture and identity—before granting access to an application. Once the user logs out, the secure tunnel disappears. Additionally, when a user accesses services from a public network, or a device that failed to log in tries to connect, additional security requirements (such as multi-factor authentication) can be enforced, or access can be denied. AppGate’s dynamic, context-aware access and data controls enable fine grained security that ties into existing infrastructure and applications, which reduces risk and maximizes operational efficiency.
